Charlie Murphy’s rapid ascent from “Eddie Murphy's brother/bodyguard” and “Chappelle's Show” cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the globe, has been remarkable.  He has spent the past six years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent, in his own right.

Murphy recently wrote, produced and starred in a series of sketch comedy webisodes for Sony Entertainment and Crackle.com.  Released in March 2009 and titled “Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy”, the series showcases Murphy’s comedic range through sketches, parodies and infomercials.

In 2007, Murphy co-headlined the 20-city “Maxim/Bud Light Real Men of Comedy Tour” with Joe Rogan and John Heffron.  Prior to that, his “I’m Rich Bitch” comedy tour, featuring fellow “Chappelle’s Show” cast members Bill Burr and Donnell Rawlings, attracted thousands of fans in cities across the U.S.  “Charlie Murphy and Friends” and a co-headlining tour with Mike Epps followed.

Murphy has also been making waves on the big screen, working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.  His feature films have included “A Perfect Holiday”, “Frankenhood”, “Kings Ransom”, and “Roll Bounce”.  He also appeared in Chris Rock’s hip-hop parody classic “CB4”, Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever” and “Mo’ Betta Blues”.  Murphy was also seen alongside his brother Eddie Murphy in “Harlem Nights”.

Murphy collaborated with his brother to co-write the critically-acclaimed “Norbit”, which opened at number one at the box office and “Vampire in Brooklyn”.  Additional writing credits include a remake of “The Incredible Shrinking Man” and “Paper Soldiers” for Jay-Z’s Rockafella Films.  He’s also written for animated shows including “Tales of the Dogg” – a pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV.  Recent projects include BET’s “We Gotta Do Better”, and films such as “Bar Starz”, “Unearthed”, “Night at the Museum”, “Twisted Fortune”, “The Hustle” and (co-starring Al Shearer, John Witherspoon, Tamala Jones and Tiny Lister).

Murphy’s endorsements and voice over work include radio spots for Budweiser, several TV spots for Boost Mobile, live appearances for Brisk Iced Tea, QD3’s Beef IV and two video games - “Grand Theft Auto:  San Andreas” and  Mark Ecko’s “Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure”.  He recently completed a huge Nike/Brand Jordan campaign, launched June 2009, based on Michael Jordan, his brand, The Hall Of Fame and the most influential influence on Michael Jordan ever – Leroy Smith.

Murphy has worked with top Hollywood talent such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Murphy’s autobiographical book entitled “The Making of a Stand-Up Guy,” published by Simon and Schuster, is due out in November 2009 and his first stand-up comedy DVD, “Charlie Murphy: Stand-Up”, distributed by Image Entertainment will be released in December 2009.  He is currently working with producers from “the Boondocks” (of which Murphy is a recurring voice character – Ed Wuncler III) to develop his own animated series.
